Samsung – Change Intercom Ring

With the Samsung systems, starting with the Prostar DCS and carrying through to current OfficeServ 7000 series systems the user can change the way their phone rings for internal (intercom) calls.

You can choose from:

  1. Ring
This will make your phone ring until you answer it by lifting the handset, pressing the speaker button or pressing the ans/rls button. Unanswered calls will be directed to voice mail, if equipped.
  2. Announce
This will allow the caller’s voice to come through your speaker but they can not hear you until you answer the phone by lifting the handset, pressing the speaker button or pressing the ans/rls button.
  3. Auto Answer
This works the same as Announce except you can answer them by simply speaking. This is a feature you should use with caution if you ever have confidential conversation going on in your office. After you hear the alert tone the caller can hear everything being said in the room. You can lift the handset to continue the conversation in private.

To change the ring mode for your phone follow these steps:

  1. You need to have a display telephone.
  2. Without lifting the handset press the transfer button (sometimes labeled TRSF)
  3. Dial 103
  4. Use the volume buttons to scroll through the three modes (listed above.)
  5. When the desired mode is displayed on the screen press the transfer button.

That’s it, see that wasn’t hard.

Another thing to keep in mind is that only ‘Ring’ mode will allow internal calls to be directed to your voice mailbox, if equipped. With the other two modes the system sees the call as being answered. So, if you have voice mail and want your intercom call to be answered by voice mail you will need to use the standard ring mode.

I hope this is helpful and feel free to call us if you have any questions at 765-288-7377.

Have a great day.

Samsung – People can’t call me and there is a red light on my phone

If your phone has a red light by the transfer (TRSF) button and your phone will not ring then you Do Not Disturb feature may have been activated.

An easy way to make sure DND is turned off is to dial 400 while the phone is idle and the handset is in the cradle.

Samsung – Do Not Disturb

Some of you with Samsung telephone systems may have a DND (Do-Not-Disturb) button on your phone. If you do the operation is very simple. Press the DND button and select ON or OFF.

If you do not have a DND button this function is still available to you in 2 ways.

First, if you have a display telephone you can navigate to the function by pressing the Scroll button (to the far right just under the display) and select OTHER and press the Scroll button until you see DND in the display. Press the soft key directly under where is says DND and select ON or OFF.

Second, if you don’t have a display or don’t want to do all the Scrolling around in the display you can dial (with the phone hung up) 401 to turn it on and 400 to turn it off.

The TRSF button will show a red light when this feature is on.

Samsung Time & Date

Now that Indiana has joined the daylight savings time community we need to change our clocks twice a year. In this post I will explain how to do this on the Samsung telephone systems.

This information applies to the Prostar DCS, SI, iDCS and OfficeServ series phone systems.

You can make these changes from any display telephone on your system.

You must know the administrator password for your system to make this change. The default password is 1234.

  1. With your handset on-hook, press transfer button (labeled TRSF on some models) and then dial 200. Your display then shows ENABLE CUS. PROG. PASSCODE:
  2. Dial your 4-digit pass code (default is 1234.)  The display then shows ENABLE CUS. PROG. DISABLE.  If you don’t know you pass code and the default code does not work please give us a call and we can help you reset it.
  3. Dial 1 to enable programming. The display now shows ENABLE CUS. PROG. ENABLE.
  4. Press the transfer button and the keyset will return to normal.

The display format is the following:

W (Day of the week): Enter 0 for Sunday, 1 for Monday, 2 for Tuesday… 6 for Saturday.
MM (Month): Enter 01 for January through 12 for December.
DD Day of the month): Enter a number in the range of 01-31.
YY (Year): Enter the last two digits of the year.
HH (Hours): Use the 24 hour clock and enter a number in the range of 00-24.
MM (minutes): Enter a number in the range of 00-59.

Failure to enter the time using the 24 hour clock will cause the date to change at 12 noon.

Next enter the new date and time as follows:

Action Display
1. Press transfer and then dial 505
2. Enter the new time and date using the above format
3. Verify the time and date and reenter them if necessary
4. Press transfer to store and exit programming

If you have entered invalid data, you will receive an [INVALID ENTRY] message for three seconds. Reenter the correct date and time.
